A Luce
I’m a mobile app junkie and have downloaded hundreds of apps (sometimes keeping them for a few minutes or years) for my iPhone since the App Store debuted. Photography apps are my favorite, so I couldn’t resist getting Facebook Camera, the social media giant’s new app for editing and sharing multiple photos. As a big fan of Instagram’s simplicity, community, look and feel, I don’t plan to abandon the app, but I am eager to give Facebook Camera a try since I already share Instagram photos with Facebook. And of all the content I share on social media, photos make up the bulk of my posts (I’ll be testing Facebook Camera on my current favorite subject, Scout; see: www.scoutreport.tumblr.com). If this new app can make the experience of capturing, editing and sharing photos more seamless than an outside app, well, I’ll be one happy camper. (Or should I say one happy amateur iPhone photographer?)

Since Facebook launched its IPO this morning, I thought I’d share a profile (my lunchtime reading today) of the growing pains of the company and its founder, and the path both traveled to get to where they are today. And here’s a story about the launch of shares (I love the headline and would love to friend $19 billion!): http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/05/facebook-ipo-mark-zuckerberg-wall-street-stock.html
1 week agoA few things stick out in this article. First, Obama has a Pinterest page (where have I been?), and second, “Holy billions, Batman!” As much as I love Instagram, I love Pinterest more and definitely see it as a more valuable tool for engaging users and reaching an audience. (Instagram, if Facebook says you’re worth a billion, then why not?) And you can’t beat the mouthwatering recipes circulating through that site either.
“Pinterest, which allows users to share photographs, recipes and other media on custom “pinboards,” raised $100 million in a funding round led by the Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten, according to an announcement on Thursday.
“The funding round, which AllThingsD reports values Pinterest at $1.5 billion, also includes Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners and FirstMark Capital, all of which have previously invested in the company.”
